Venezuela rejects sanctions of the British Government against Venezuelan military officials
The Government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela rejects the decision of the British Government, through its Ministry of Finance, to impose alleged sanctions on three honorable Venezuelan military officials. It is a clearly evident that the application of these type of outdated measures obeys the colonialist nostalgia of a disappeared empire, that does not accept its new condition. The ideological bias with which the British Diplomacy acts is inconvenient and unacceptable in civilized international relations. The unequivocal and firm position of the Venezuela State will always be expressed against the imposition of unilateral coercive measures. The failure to comply with International Law through the use of inefficient mechanisms, with the unavoidable objective of exerting pressure in favor of an extremist and violent agenda, far from favoring the necessary climate for the resolution of differences, encourages political confrontation from abroad. In view of the announcement of the arbitrary measures of the United Kingdom against Venezuelan officials, there is reasonable doubt about the relationship between these decisions and the kidnapping of 32 tons of gold from the Venezuelan people in that country, thanks to the irresponsible attitude of British institutions. In the midst of the world health crisis due to the expansion of the Covid-19, from London inconceivable obstacles have been placed for Venezuela to dispose of its legitimate resources, deposited in the UK, in order to face the unexpected pandemic with greater efficiency. This combination of facts implies the British State as accomplice of the criminal blockade of the government of Donald Trump against Venezuela and, even worse, it places it as the intellectual and material author of the deaths and affectations to the health of Venezuelans that could have been avoided with the simple respect of the sovereignty of Venezuela. In this sense, the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela denounces before the international community these actions with criminal consequences by the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, while demanding respect for its independence, legal system and, above all, the well-being of its free and sovereign people.
