Venezuela rejects the imposition of new unilateral coercive measures from the EU
The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela firmly rejects the decision of the Foreing Affairs Council of the European Union, by which it arbitrarily imposes Unilateral Coercive Measures against 19 officials of the Venezuelan State, including high-level dignitaries and magistrates, members of the People’s Powers of the country.
Singling out honorable citizens with false arguments, as a reaction to the frustration of a group of EU Member States over the clear ineffectiveness of their actions to force a change of government by force in Venezuela, is nothing more than another clumsy decision, whose only intention is to negatively affect the political dialogue taking place in the country.
Venezuela reiterates and denounces the arbitrary nature of these alleged sanctions, which have no legal basis in the shared norms of International Law. These erratic decisions also reveal the inability of the European Bloc to understand, accept and respect the will of the Venezuelan people and once again reveals its anachronistic interventionist and interfering policy towards Venezuela.
It should be noted that this illegal decision of the EU represents a sort of arrogant affront to the United Nations, an instance that, a few days ago, through its Special Rapporteur on Unilateral Coercive Measures of the Human Right Council, has demanded the United States and the European Union to lift the unilateral sanctions against Venezuela, given the devastating and evident effects they produce on the enjoyment of Human Rights in the entire Venezuelan population.
The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela makes a new call to the European Union to cease its systematic aggression against the Venezuelan people and to abandon, once and for all, the vestiges and neocolonial pretentions in its approach to Latin America. Venezuela hopes that the failure of the interventionist plans will generate a profound reflection and rectification within the European governments, which will allow the establishment of new relations of mutual respect for the reconstruction of the necessary trust that the EU is so determined to destroy.
