Bank of ALBA to support humanitarian bridge in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines

The Executive Secretary of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America-People’s Trade Treaty (ALBA-TCP), Sacha Llorenti, arrived on Monday in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines and informed that the Bank of ALBA will accompany and support the efforts made by the regional bloc to assist 15,000 people who have been displaced by the recent volcanic eruption.

“We are offering the Prime Minister all the efforts of the ALBA countries to accompany them in this difficult situation,” said Llorenti, who was in the company of the President of the Bank of ALBA’s Board of Directors and Venezuela’s Foreign Minister for the Caribbean, Raúl Li Causi.

Likewise, he explained his visit does not only aim to strengthen cooperation relations between the financial institution and the Caribbean country, but also to coordinate and strengthen the humanitarian bridge activated by the ALBA-TCP member countries last April.

“We want to express again our solidarity, will and accompaniment in this difficult times experienced by Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, not only due to the pandemic like the rest of the world’s countries, but also due to the volcanic eruption that caused serious humanitarian and infrastructure damages,” added the ALBA-TCP executive secretary.

The humanitarian aid sent by the ALBA-TCP includes 280 tons of drinking water, 48 tons of supplies, medicines, bottled water, food, personal hygiene kits, 100 1-gallon water tanks and a base station for mobile communications.
