Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Borisov extols cooperation relation between Russia and Venezuela

At the 15th Russia-Venezuela High-Level Intergovernmental Commission (CIAN) on Tuesday, Russia’s Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Borisov extolled the cooperation strategic alliance the two countries maintain based on mutual respect.

Borisov highlighted the strong ties between the two countries that have enabled to step up cooperation in different areas. “Our relations help us improve cooperation in the technical, economic sphere,” said the Russian Co-Chair of CIAN.

Likewise, he underlined the progress made in the commercial and financial sphere despite economic challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, and condemned the implementation of coercive measures against Venezuela.

“We strongly condemn the unilateral sanctions against Venezuela as they affect the social situation, and amid the pandemic, they limit the purchase of essential medicines needed by the country,” said Borisov.

In this regard, he reaffirmed the support provided by the Russian Federation to Venezuela in the fight against COVID-19 with the supply of medicines, including the first 150,000 Sputnik V doses.

Furthermore, the Russian deputy prime minister announced the expansion of this cooperation to increase the availability of vaccines for the Venezuelan people.
