Venezuela extends condolences on tragedy at Public University of El Alto in Bolivia
The Minister of People’s Power for Foreign Affairs, Jorge Arreaza, on behalf of the Government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, conveyed on Tuesday his condolences to the people of the Plurinational State of Bolivia on the tragedy at the Public University of El Alto (UPEA), where five students died and other three ended up in intensive care units.
“We express our deep sorrow for the tragedy that struck the community of the Public University of El Alto (UPEA) in Bolivia, where university students lost their lives in an unfortunate accident. Our condolences for the Bolivian people,” wrote the Venezuelan diplomat on his Twitter account @jaarreaza.
The accident took place in the university’s Business Administration building after a railing gave way under the weight of students who were holding an assembly.
The UPEA released a statement informing that the university’s legal department will cooperate with the police investigation.
“An internal investigation on the facts has been launched and we will provide health assistance to those affected,” reads the statement.
