The Venezuelan Foreign Ministry endorsed on Tuesday a framework cooperation agreement with the National Association of Counselors for the Protection of Children and Adolescents (Asonacop) to strengthen cooperation in the protection of Venezuelan children and adolescents overseas.
This agreement will help strengthen the Foreign Ministry’s capacity to conduct studies for the assistance and protection of children and adolescents in the process of repatriation and family reunification, including voluntary arrangement for their return to the country.
Asonacop is an international organization whose aim is the comprehensive protection of children and adolescents, the strengthening of families, communities and institutions in the promotion, defense, research and assistance on the human rights of children and adolescents by promoting their participation in the exercise of their rights and duties.
This non-profit organization works jointly with the Foreign Ministry’s Office for Consular Relations in the National Roundtable for the Protection of Migrant Children and Adolescents to contribute to the report that Venezuela will submit to the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child this year.
