The Ambassador of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela to the Plurinational State of Bolivia, Alexander Yánez, participated in the celebration of the “Illapacha de los Andes,” a ceremony to welcome the southern summer solstice in Bolivia.
“Today, December 21, at the Tiawanaku Archeological Park, an ancestral ceremony was held to welcome the southern summer solstice by making an offering to the solar deity so that he shed light on good seeds as a preamble to a good harvest,” explained the Venezuelan diplomat.
The ceremony was headed by former President Evo Morales, who thanked Ambassadors from Spain, Iran, Nicaragua, Mexico, Panama and Venezuela for their presence.
Bolivia’s Vice-president David Choquehuanca, Minister of the President’s Office María Nela Prada, and Culture Minister Sabina Orellana also participated in the ceremony.
Ambassador Yánez presented his credentials to President Luis Arce in November as part of the reestablishment of diplomatic relations between Venezuela and Bolivia.
