ALBA-TCP rejects illegal, unilateral coercive measures against Venezuela, supports Bolivarian Government

The member countries of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America-People’s Trade Treaty (ALBA-TCP) reiterated on Monday their strong rejection to the illegal, unilateral coercive measures against the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela in violation of international law and the United Nations Charter.

At the 18th ALBA-TCP Summit, the member States condemned these measures as they “represent a collective punishment against the Venezuelan people, causing indiscriminate suffering to the population.”

“We condemned the hegemonic pretensions of the United States of America in its quest to revive the Monroe Doctrine, and its attempts to revive the Inter-American Treaty of Reciprocal Assistance to attack the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and cause a terrible impact on the region’s peace and security,” adds the ALBA-TCP statement.

Also, the regional integration bloc congratulated the people and institutions of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela for the parliamentary elections held on December 6 to elect the new members of the National Assembly.

Likewise, ALBA-TCP reaffirmed its support for the Venezuelan Government and President Nicolás Maduro “in their fight for peace and the stability of the Venezuelan people.”

The heads of State and Government and chiefs of delegations held the 18th ALBA-TCP Summit via video conference on the 16th anniversary of the organization.
