Foreign Minister Arreaza: ‘Latin America can become an important pole of power’

“We believe in multilateralism, in a multipolar world, and we have been engaging in new relations with new actors in this new world. Turkey is one of them, and so are Russia, China and many others,” said Minister of People’s Power for Foreign Affairs, Jorge Arreaza, via video conference during the presentation of the book “Venezuela in the International System: Regional and Global Perspectives,” released by Turkey’s Institute of Strategic Thinking.

In the event, held on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of Venezuela-Turkey diplomatic relations, Arreaza also said Venezuela believes in the Bolivarian Diplomacy of Peace, and that “Latin America can become a very important pole of power, and it is possible to have a balanced world where our diversity and understanding of life can be respected.”

Likewise, the Venezuelan foreign minister pointed out that the relation of Venezuela with Europe is also addressed in this book, and that this “wonderful contribution” is very useful to understand why Venezuela has been in the center of world events in recent years.

In that same vein, Arreaza remarked that despite the permanent aggression and multifaceted attacks against Venezuela in the last years, the Venezuelan people have resisted heroically and have remained firm to defend their sovereignty.

“We are building an alternative way to organize our society and our economy. We are not only defending ourselves; we are also moving forward in a new Venezuela, one in which we believe,” he added.

The Venezuelan diplomat insisted that Venezuela is a highly anti-imperialist country, and that its people are confident about building a historical project in the 21st century.
