CNE President describes parliamentary elections in Venezuela as “democratic party”

President of the National Electoral Council (CNE), Indira Alfonzo, cast her vote on Sunday, December 6, and thanked polling station members and personnel for making the elections possible to elect the members of the National Assembly, which will be inaugurated on January 5.

At the polling center of the Andrés Bello High School in Caracas, the CNE president sent regards to the more than 200 international observers in Venezuela and urged the Venezuelan people to attend this democratic party.

“Go cast your votes. It is your right and duty,” she said.

Alfonzo stressed that 99.99% of the polling stations were already installed throughout the country. “We are talking about more than 14,000 polling centers, where voters will exercise their right to vote.”

The CNE president highlighted that Venezuelans have decided to exercise their right to vote by observing biosecurity measures against COVID-19 to avoid its propagation.

“People are going to the polls all around the country, wearing facemasks, distancing and avoiding crowds, and of course, respecting our work in the polling centers,” Alfonzo explained.
