Venezuela proposes to establish International Association against Unilateral Coercive Measures

This Wednesday, the ambassador of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela to the United Nations (UN), Samuel Moncada, denounced the illegal imposition of unilateral coercive measures and the massive violation of human rights in the world by the US Government.

During an informal meeting of the UN Security Council, called by China; Russia; Niger; South Africa and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Ambassador Moncada proposed the creation of an International Association against the illegal imposition of unilateral coercive measures by the United States against 29 UN member states -including Venezuela- that go against the principles and purposes of the Charter of the United Nations and the norms of international law, while threatening peace and violating the human rights of a third of humanity.

In this regard, he urged the international community to redouble its efforts in favor of the adoption of a Declaration of the General Assembly on “Unilateral Coercive Measures and the Rule of Law”, through which the total and immediate uprising is promoted.

He stressed that “the US claim to impose its national legislation as if it were universal law, through economic coercion and the threat of the use of force, represents a clear and permanent danger to the system of international relations”.
