Bolivarian Government denounces the US to the UN Security Council for threats of naval blockade

The Government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela denounced the United States on Tuesday before the Security Council of the United Nations Organization (UN), condemning every one of the illegal actions and violations to the international law undertaken by his government against the economy and sovereignty of the Venezuelan people. The information was released by the People’s Power Minister for Foreign Relations, Jorge Arreaza, through his Twitter account @jaarreaza. “We have denounced the US government to the Security Council and the UN General Secretariat for the criminal blockade and threats of establishment of naval blockades and use of force against the people of Venezuela”, he wrote. In early August, the permanent ambassador of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela to the international organization, Samuel Moncada, flatly rejected these threats, claiming that the application of a naval blockade can only be contemplated, in accordance with the provisions of article 41 of the Charter of the United Nations, to countries that represent a threat to peace or have committed a serious aggression, “Venezuela has not broken the peace, has not committed any aggression, nor represents a threat, who does represent it is the United States”, he emphasized. In the last two years the administration of Donald Trump has been dedicated to planning and leading a multiform war against the Venezuelan people through the financial and commercial economic blockade, however, threats from his government have intensified and escalated others levels of conflict, after the failed coup d’etat of April 30. Since then, the United States has endangered Venezuela’s air safety by making illegal incursions into the region controlled by Venezuela and now intends a naval and maritime blockade.
